Please make sure your name is on the check. ASME may forgo processing fees for students who can demonstrate financial need.

Application Requirements
Your application to the ASME Internship Program must include:

1. A written statement no more than 400 words in length explaining how your studies and experience have prepared you to be an ASME intern and how you plan to use the skills and insights you gain from the program in your senior year of college
2. A video statement no more than two minutes in length, recorded on a mobile device, introducing yourself to the selection committee and explaining why you want to participate in the ASME Internship Program
3. A PDF of your resume
4. Ten PDFs of or links to articles you have written or edited for newspapers, magazines and websites that demonstrate reporting skills as well as wide-ranging interests (PDFs of articles should be substituted for links to articles that are on websites that require registration or are behind paywalls); in addition to or in lieu of articles for newspapers, magazines and websites, you may submit no more than 3 examples of work that demonstrate research and writing abilities
5. A letter of recommendation no more than 400 words in length from an educator who can attest to your abilities and experience, especially as a reporter and writer
6. A letter of recommendation no more than 400 words in length from a manager or employer not associated with your college or university who can attest to your abilities and experience, especially in a professional or business setting
7. (Optional) A letter of nomination no more than 100 words in length from your college or university

Letters of recommendation and nomination must be formatted as PDFs and either attached to your application or emailed as attachments to asmeinternship@asme.media on or before January 7, 2025. Applications that do not include two letters of recommendation, one from an educator and the second from a manager or employer not associated with your college or university, will not be considered by the selection committee.
